Our recent visit to Floralia Brussels, set in the breathtaking grounds of the Grand Bigard Castle, was nothing short of magical. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this would be one of those days we’d talk about for a long time.
The weather was perfect — blue skies, soft sunshine, and just enough breeze to keep things comfortable as we wandered through gardens bursting with color. It felt like spring was showing off, and we were lucky enough to be there to witness it.
We met at the agreed spot near the entrance to the chapel, and from there, the day unfolded naturally. The group energy was great — everyone was in good spirits, and it was clear that we were all there to enjoy both nature and good company. Whether people came by train or carpooled in, everyone made it smoothly, and the logistics worked out well thanks to the comments and coordination beforehand.
One of the day’s unexpected highlights was the diversity of the scenes we were able to capture. From wide-angle views of vibrant tulip beds to more intimate compositions with architectural backdrops, the park offered a little bit of everything. Many of us came home with a full memory card — and an even fuller sense of inspiration. Each photographer found their own unique angle, and the resulting shots reflect a wonderful mix of styles and perspectives.
The real showstopper was the Venetian costume parade. The blend of floral surroundings and elaborate historical costumes was a feast for the senses — and a real challenge for those trying to capture the moment in a single frame. The elegant masks and garments added a surreal, timeless quality to the event. It’s not every day you get to shoot tulips and 18th-century nobility in the same setting.
Looking back, it’s not just the location or the pictures that made this day special — it was the people. Supportive, relaxed, and curious, everyone brought something to the experience. Whether you were quietly composing your shots or chatting along the way, it felt like we were part of a shared creative adventure.
Thank you to everyone who joined. This day reminded us why we do this: to explore beauty together, in places that surprise us, with people who inspire us.
Looking forward to the next outing.
