Photoresk’s Relaunch: A Snapshot of the Ongoing Re-work
Photoresk began as a grassroots meetup for photographers and blossomed into an international network spanning Brussels, Cologne and several other cities. In recent years, however, engagement dipped and the limits (and cost) of relying on Meetup became clear. A full revamp is now under way to give the community a modern, sustainable home on Photoresk.com and to rekindle the inclusive, cross-cultural spirit that first drew members together.
What’s being done
- A refreshed homepage now features a rotating member gallery, a “Featured Photographer” spotlight, clearer headlines, and a prominent call-to-action.
- A new event-management system and streamlined registration flow are live, with almost 200 members already on the site.
These quick wins make the site feel alive again while giving organisers direct channels to their audience—no more guessing who saw an announcement.
What’s coming next
The current “Community Engagement & Events” phase focuses on visible member value: user-curated galleries, an expanded FAQ, and curiosity-driven features such as photo contests and rotating spotlights. Work is also under way to launch automatically generated articles tailored to Gen Z, Millennials, Gen X and Boomers, ensuring content resonates across age groups.
The migration timeline
Mark 5 September 2025 in your calendar: that’s the official day all Meetup groups move to Photoresk.com. Weekly newsletters have already resumed to guide everyone through the transition, share behind-the-scenes progress, and highlight upcoming local walks and virtual club-room sessions.
How you can help
- Register or update your profile on Photoresk.com if you haven’t yet.
- Share feedback—the site’s new FAQ will grow from your questions.
- Watch for local meet-ups in Brussels and Cologne and online critique nights.
- Consider the optional gallery upgrade rolling out later this summer; these modest fees will keep basic membership free for everyone.
The re-work is more than a technical facelift; it’s a recommitment to building friendships through photography. Thank you for being part of the journey—see you in the next spotlight.
